The Littlest Vader

Trent actually really likes his Vader costume. He sings the Imperial Death March as we put it on and then commences swinging his light saber. He doesn't even mind the hat! Halloween is going to be so much fun!

The Whole Patch

LANGFORD PUMPKIN PATCH

I got this crazy wild idea when I saw an adorable picture of kids in tie-dyed jack-o-lantern t-shirts on the cover of Family Fun magazine. All of my kids wanted a Halloween t-shirt and I thought it would be more fun to make them and have our own unique creations than to buy one. So the adventure begins. I found all the materials and we began. Each child decided how they wanted to rubberband their shirt and each had their own design. The orange dye looked like blood and the kids were totally disgusted and gagging as we dipped them in the dye. Unfortunately, I ran out of dye after only 3 shirts. That's where the adventure begins. I think everyone in San Diego was making the same shirt and no store had any orange tie-dye left. After several errands, phone calls, time and searches I finally found some tangerine dye. Long story short, I finally finished dying the rest of the shirts. The kids loved colored on their jack-o-lantern faces. It took several more fabric pens and sharpies than I anticipated, but they were extremely proud of their creations. Friday night we went to pumpkin patch, all wearing our t-shirts and took our picture with the tri-pod. Trent was thrilled to have pumpkins on his shirt and even more thrilled to see everyone else wearing one too. Greg was a great sport and cheerfully wore his big Daddy pumpkin shirt with pride.

Megan's First Field Trip

Greg, Trent and I were fortunate enough to accompany Megan's Kindergarten class on their fieldtrip to Oma's dairy farm and pumpkin patch. On our tractor hay ride we saw a baby calf only a day new. The farm had several activities including a straw maze, a petting zoo, a plyaground, a farm area, and this hill of wool seeds to slide down. Megan was a pro at sliding down and Greg climbed up to help several of her classmates. Greg tried to take Trent with him but when he sat on the disk, he just sunk in the wool and couldn't slide. Megan saved the day and braved the hill holding onto Trent. Trent and I spent a lot of time playing in a huge mound of dirt with the dozens of tractors put out to play with. At the end, Megan chose her very own pumpkin and was pleased with her find.

It was Megan's first trip on a school bus and although she could have riden home with us she chose to return on the school bus. The drive was about 45 minutes and very bumpy and her and her seat mate, Netta, sang Pumpkin songs all the way home. Trent on the other hand, rode home with Greg and I and was so tuckered from the heat (it was extremely hot that day) and the activity he crashed in his car seat.

CREATION STATION

Tyler is our engineer/ creator extrodinaire. All he needs is a little paper, scissors, and tape. Here he is pictured with several of his creations including a castle with a knight in shining armor with a helmet and sword that move and a horse to ride upon to rescue the fair princess as well as several animals in their habitats, like monkeys swinging froms trees and otters in the pond, and of course, Star Wars characters and spaceships. He often creates plays or shows with his creations and is very attached to ALL of them. Unfortunately we were running out of storage space so we decided to gather them together and take a picture. Then they would always be remembered.

Family Party

We enjoyed a rip roaring fun family dinner party. Grammy, Ron, Grandma Langford, Mel, Roland, Bubba and Edda joined us for dinner and festivities. Tyler chose Spaghetti with Meatballs and Breadsticks for the menu and we all feasted on rich chocolate Mustafar cake for dessert. Present time was a Star Wars event! We even had a special visit from Corduroy the Bear (from Megan's kindergarten class) for the celebration.

Happy Birthday to YOU!

Trent is a pro now at birthdays. After watching Daddy, Kaylee and Meggie he knows the drill. He sings the "birthday song" adding the "cha cha cha" in all the right places, and blows out his candle with all his gusto. Way to go Trent! Your birthday is coming soon . . .

Do-ey Nuts

Of course, a Langford family birthday wouldn't be complete without doughnuts! As the kids hear Daddy's call "DOOOOOOUUUUGGG-EEEEEEEEEEYYYYY NUUUUTTTTSSS!" they come scrambling down the stairs, giggling, and squealing nearly tasting the sugary, sweet cake of chocolate doughnuts with sprinkles before they even arrive at the table. On the birthday morning, everyone gets to sing "Happy Birthday" and blow out a candle in their doughnut.

Tyler's Night Out

For birthdays this year we opted for a night out with Mom and Dad instead of parties. Tyler chose to eat at IN-N-OUT (yum!) as well as a trip to the toy store. Of course he found the Star Wars aisle and within seconds had zeroed in on some Star Wars Speeders and a few action figures. The entire toy trip took 5 minutes- at the most! Afterwards we headed to the park to fly the new speeders all around, in, over and under the playscapes as rebel forces saving the galactic universe.
