SUPER KID!

The long-awaited week has finally come, and Megan's name was finally chosen for the highest kindergarten honor: SUPERKID!!! This week Megan will don the superkid cape and act as her teacher's special helper leading the class in their circle activities. In addition to all of these privileges, she also gets to post family pictures on a special bulletin board and share her favorite book.

She chose "Princess Penelope" as her favorite book to share and I thought, "how fitting! She is our little princess without a doubt!"

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Determined to catch those mischievous leprechauns, Tyler devised a trap complete with a rainbow and gold to lure the little green people in. Everyone knows leprechauns love to break rules, so to make the trap irresistible he placed a "Do Not Climb the Ladder" sign making the ladder too tempting to pass up.
After climbing the ladder and reaching for the gold under the rainbow, those green troublesome leprechauns would fall through the false floor and be caught in the trap! Alas, every great plan has a loop hole and Tyler realized that those lucky Irish must have hung onto the rainbow and averted the trap- so the trap was empty. Although, we know they were here because our milk and breakfast were colored green and the downstairs was a mess- proof positive that those leprechauns outsmarted us yet again. Maybe next year . . . .

Tyler has decided to become a robot designer and create driod-like helpers to assist him in his daily duties. The most important duty he wants to hand off is the dishes . . . but until then he has created the Snapper Robot.

Bursting Buttons

Sometimes, as a Mom I almost wish I could have a yearly review, a status report, or a recognition, they call them "kudos" at Motorola, that in some respect I assisted in the progression or improvement of something, or at least gave it my best effort. Monday progress reports came home and all three children scored excellently, in academics as well as behavior. My buttons nearly burst with pride! In many respects it was all the acknowledgement I could hope to receive. I advise any readers that I realize the credit is not mine, and there are still many more obstacles and challenges to overcome, however for one small moment I was very proud and that was recognition enough. We celebrated at Souplantation and enjoyed a delightful dinner together. Families are great!

The Adventures of Greggie and Amy

Life is so full of possibilities . . . seen and unseen. I never imagined Greg and I would have the opportunity to getaway for our anniversary and thanks to Grandma and priceline, the possibility became a reality. Grandma provided the childcare and priceline a resort hotel at a motel price. Our adventure began at Zocalo a "nuevo latino cuisine" restaurant whose tulapia and mango ribs with sweet potato fries followed by fried banana cheesecake was a treat for the tastebuds and definitely beyond our daily food fare.
After checking in and getting settled we wandered the grounds to look for a picture perfect spot. The night sky was quite dark with the moon hidden behind clouds. Following the sound of rushing water we found this pond, though we couldn't see across it. Setting the camera up in a mangled tree we opened the shutter for nearly two minutes and revealed a pond, flowers and waterfall that we couldn't actually see. Isn't photography amazing?

Unfortunately, this glowing "tree of life" is out of focus (that's what happens when its so dark you can't manually focus) but still I thought it interesting how much detail the camera can "see" without a flash on a very dark night.

Another very unforseen possibility. I cruised 16 miles down Highway 101 on this beast of a tandem road bike. Never having been on a roadbike, I found it to be quite an adventure. Only the scenery and beach breeze made the pain in my tush worthwhile. Actually, it was a lesson in marriage cooperation more literal than most. What I didn't realize beforehand was our pedals are on the same chain which means we had to work in sync with each other. If either of us stopped, slowed or sped up it directly affected the other person and usually negatively. When your life is on the line there is real motivation to work together. Finding our rhythm took some adjustment, though once we did, cruising along and tackling hills was exhilirating.

One of our last stops was North Carlsbad beach to watch the sun set over as the whale spouted in the distance. What could be more romantic than that? Thank you Greggie!

Peach Tree Blossoms

Every year I vow to take record the budding peach tree blossoms and I have finally done it! My red baron peach tree puts out the most vibrant double leaf blossoms that take my breath away. The blossoms signify that Spring is on its way as well as homemade peach cobbler from these delicious peaches!

Beach Date

Greggie and I took advantage of Grammy's babysitting and snuck over to North Carlsbad beach to play with the camera. Here are a few shots from our date.

Greggie took this one of me when I was deep in thought searching for something to photograph.

I was trying to make Greg into a perfectly dark silhouette against the beach and sky but it was the middle of the day and I couldn't quite get him completely dark. Still, I think it creates a moody feeling picture.

The last shot I snapped before walking away. I like the direction of the shot but I need to work on getting the sky to pop better.

Jake happily opened his new presents and inspected them closely!

Drew was happy throughout his entire blessing and throughout Jake's entire party. He shared his smiles with us.

Family Sharing

Today was a day to celebrate in the Langford family. Jake celebrated his second birthday and Drew has now been surrounded by his family and given a father's blessing. Two blessings in one! After the blessing we celebrated at Robin and Eddy's home.
