Girls Night Out

My girls and I enjoyed a night out together. Of course, we had to primp a little, because that what girls do. I had found a children's theater performing "Beauty and the Beast" and bought tickets to surprise them. They were amazed what children their age could do. I was impressed with the ornate costumes, perfectly recited lines and clever choreography. Afterwards we got some autographs and the girls fell in love with "Belle" and "Chip." Grateful for my girls!

Spring time!

I wasn't prepared for the burst and depth of green that would come literally overnight as spring appeared in Texas. I don't recall seeing any leaf buds on the barren trees and then one morning- Spring arrived! Every tree seems to be carrying its full weight of leaves and the grass has turned bright fresh green and the blue bonnets and indian paints are popping out adding beautiful blues and reds to the bright greens. The world seems to have turned into a painting.

Spring time was calling our name and begging us to enjoy its beauty and who are we to refuse? We packed up the bikes and headed to the trails at Grapevine Lake.

Even the smalles nooks are cracks are bursting with flowers and greenery.
After a ride through the arched treeways and over the bridges we stopped to catch our breath by the lake and watch the sailboats glide by.


Next to the lake is a fun park and fields, so of course we had to stop and play there as well. Here is my shy camera guy Tyler- you almost have to sneak up on him to get a picture.

Trent loves his bike carseat and calls the bike a motorcycle. I'd like to think its because I pedal so fast, but really he hasn't been on a motorcycle and I'm sure it wouldn't be pink with cheetah print like mine. After several rides on the back of my bike, he hopped on his tricycle for the first time and rode off pedaling round and round. At my next glance, he was standing up and trying to pedal harder to go faster. Maybe he shouldn't have a motorcycle.

This picture falls so short of capturing the depth of green and trees and the beauty of the bike trail. You'll just have to come and see for yourself.

Pit stop Easter

While on their way from California to North Carolina, Grammy and Ron made a quick pit stop to see the kiddos and celebrate Easter. Being so close to DFW makes layover visits very doable and lots of fun. We decided to have an easter celebration and dye some eggs while visiting. We gave Ron the complete tour of the new home and Ron enjoyed a pit stop in the movie room (and a little nap too from what I hear- don't worry it happens to most guys. The man cave has that effect.) Kaylee went for sparkly, glittery eggs.

Grammy was color coordinating for the day.

Trent was tickled to make his very own "green" eggs and couldn't resist quoting " I do NOT like green eggs and ham. I do not like them Sam I am. Try them, try them and you may. Try them and you may I say. Say I do SO like green eggs and ham.

Same or different?

Snickers got a haircut and came home, after four hours of grooming, a completely different looking dog. We weren't convinced she was the same dog until she rolled over for a tummy rub. Yep, that's our Snickers.

Camping on Bayou

Life these days is an adventure. Plain and simple. Some adventures aren't so fun. Like visits to the hospital and late-night illnesses. Others are downright fun. Like floating on the bayou in a canoe and thinking that every branch has eyes and is an alligator peeking at you.

Spring Break provided us an opportunity to explore some more of Texas. We rented a 7,000 lb motorhome and pulled it to the middle of nowhere, Tx. Near the Louisiana border. We enjoyed the rolling hills crowded with tall trees and green grass growing in every spare inch.

We also enjoyed renting canoes and floating along the rivers and bayous that lead to largest lake, Sam Rayburn. The only downside was an incoming storm which caused us to turn back early. Trent loves water and we discovered, canoes as well!
Being in God's creation reminds me of His love for beauty which brings me joy. I love to be surrounded by all kinds of natural beauty.

We took our bikes along and enjoyed some off-road trail riding as well as swimming, roasting marshmellows, telling crazy stories around the campfire and playing on the nearby playground. Our camping neighbors were friendly folk that we had to chance to visit with and enjoy as well.

The only hitch to the entire trip was the little part about getting caught in a snowstorm on the way home, the freeways shutting down and all the bridges freezing over while trying to tow an enormous trailer in blizzard snow and wind. THAT was an adventure!
