When we realized that we were moving to Texas we decided to commission an original oil painting from our favorite art teacher Ms. Kara to symbolize our transition in life. With her prompting we tried to find something meaningful for all of us.
After much thought, we decided to have her paint an ocean and beach scene with an island jetting out in the background to represent the beginnings of our family. Greg and I had our first date on Coronado island and many subsequent dates on the beach. The beach also represents our time in beautiful San Diego.
Each family member is represented as a horse with a bit of their personality showing through in the color and position and action. The horses represent Texas and their movement represents our family moving forward in a new direction.
We took a picture with each one of us pointing to our horse.
For those who are curious, Greg is the black horse in the lead. Kaylee is to his right with the white star and the lighter tan horse on her right, nearest to the water is Tyler. Megan is to the left of Greg and Trent is the wild white horse running free (even he picked out his horse). I am corraling from the rear.
Now we have to frame it.

That is gorgeous! I love it and what it represents. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. How much does she charge for something like that?
Thank you. Unfortunately, it wasn't cheap so hopefully it will be a family treasure to pass down through the years which would make it worthwhile =)
So beautiful! What a family treasure to have forever!
