We started off the summer with a brief beach vacation and have continued to spend a great deal of time soaking up the sun and cooling off in the water. Every Tuesday we have enjoyed a playdate with the ward at Del Mar beach where the kids have played tirelessly with their friends until I have to pull them out to go home. All three older kids enjoy boogie boarding and Megan also loves her pink tube. She's very easy to spot floating in and out with the tide in her bright pink circle. We also had the opportunity to try out surfing for a day. After some instruction on land, Kaylee, Tyler and Megan each had their own turn to catch a wave. What a thrill it was to watch them surf in!
On Mondays and Fridays, our awesome swim instructor came over to give the three older kids private lessons at our pool. They learned freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and came home exhausted from the workout! Our swim instructor has become a dear friend and was kind enough to take the kids for their surf lessons. We were thankful for her!
On Wednesdays, we continued art lessons with our friends and enjoyed the thrill of creating. On Thursdays, we made a stop at the library to check out new materials. I noticed a lot of books about dog training being checked out. It was a not-so-subtle hint! They think they are ready to train their own- we'll soon see!
On our free days we've had the opportunity to visit the Del Mar Fair and were awed by the Monster Truck show and Trick Motorcycle Show. The pig races were also pretty entertaining! We stopped by Sea World a few times to see shows and visit the animal exhibits, once with Lindy, Jake and Drew. We've enjoyed some playdates and movie nights and evening dips in the pool.
Thankfully, we've had the opportunity to play with cousins and enjoy that special bonding playtime. We were fortunate to have had cousins play and sleepover and still have a few more opportunities for sleepovers before our scheduled move. On our way to and from Utah, we enjoyed pleasant visits with the families of Kris, LeAnn, Barbara, Jim and Linda. We had a first family boating experience on Quail Lake with Kris and Le Ann's families. What a thrill to zoom around the lake either inside the boat or being towed behind.
Our newest thrill was vacationing at the Aspen Grove Family camp in Sundance, Utah. A perfectly tailored fun, beautiful family vacation. I'll post some pictures of that soon.
All in all, it was wonderful. Truly. My only complaint was that it passed too quickly and now it's already done!
